Now at Dijkmans: the fantastic basses of De Gier!

We are proud to announce that we are now a dealer of De Gier basses! Sander De Gier is one of the most renowned bass builders in the world. His custom-built instruments are used worldwide by professional bass players, from Breda to Tokyo.

A Brief History

Sander De Gier started repairing, customizing and building instruments in the mid-nineties. Initially, Sander built acoustic and electric guitars, but the call from his clientele to build a Jazz Bass model became louder and louder. De Gier took up the challenge and the first achievement, the Bebop model, turned the bass world upside down in no time. The prototype was bought by Marcus Miller and the ball started rolling. Soon the inevitable question arose: when will the Precision Bass model be released? The answer to that question was the Soulmate, an equally successful bass that has since made a name for itself worldwide. In the meantime, the Lowlander model has also been added to De Gier's catalogue, a tribute to the heavy rock basses from the '70s.

Why De Gier?

Characteristic of De Gier basses is first of all the very high quality standard. Each instrument is built by hand by Sander and his small team from the best wood, with carefully selected hardware and elements. De Gier's personal goal is to build basses that are as light and comfortable as possible. All the wood used is therefore carefully selected, weighed and tested for tone. Even the smallest details, such as the weight of the tuners and the thickness of the headstock, are conscious, well-considered choices that contribute to an incredibly complete and harmonious instrument.

Create your own De Gier

Every De Gier is custom built. We assemble our shop models ourselves, but you can do that too! Each model has a number of "standard" specifications, but most of them can be adjusted to your own wishes. Think of the wood used, binding along the neck, fretboard inlays and - of course! - the color of the bass. You can also decide which pickups you want in the bass. De Gier offers a number of options, including Lollars, Kloppmann and Fralins. In addition, you have the choice to go for an extra-light version for the lightest possible instrument. This makes every De Gier completely unique and a personal reflection of your wishes!

The models

Bebop

The Bebop is De Gier's answer to the Fender Jazz Bass. This model gives you a characteristic, direct sound that is ideal for funk, rock and pop. Although the Jazz Bass is the starting point, De Gier added his own ideas and innovations in many areas for an even more reliable and comfortable instrument. The Bebop Classic is a variation on this model with a greater emphasis on the sound, look and feel of a vintage Jazz.

Soulmate

The Soulmate model takes the Fender Precision as its starting point. This model has a deeper, warmer tone that is immediately recognizable as perhaps the most recorded bass sound in the world. Like the Bebop , the Soulmate has many upgrades and subtle adjustments compared to the original. The Soulmate also has a Classic variant that focuses more on the playing and sound experience of a vintage Precision.

Lowlander

The latest addition to the De Gier bass family is the Lowlander. This model is based on old Gibson Thunderbirds. These basses are known for their full, rough sound with a powerful dose of low end. The neck-through construction gives the Lowlander a natural compression, making it an excellent choice for bassists who play with a pick. A pair of Lollar T-Bird pickups provide the Lowlander with a roaring rock sound that transports you to the seventies in one fell swoop.
