The Newest Member of the PRS SE Family: The SE Silver Sky!

Since the release of the Silver Sky in 2018, we at Dijkmans have seen many guitarists fall head over heels for his charms. Countless enthusiasts of both vintage instruments and modern guitars have now embraced the Silver Sky. We are therefore incredibly happy that PRS will also offer the Silver Sky in their more affordable SE line from 2022! This makes the instrument accessible to even more guitarists and we can only applaud that.

The SE Silver Sky is indeed a lot more affordable than its older, American brother, but no real concessions have actually been made. To begin with, both versions are characterized by the extremely comfortable body shape, with belly cut. This is a guitar you won't want to put down! They also have little to do with each other in terms of sound; the SE version is made of poplar wood, which is very close to the alder wood of the American version. You'll hear the same detail and depth you'd expect, enhanced by the updated 635JM "S" pickups. These pickups are beautifully balanced, so that the well-known "in-between positions" also sound amazing (although that won't surprise the real Mayer connoisseurs...). The characteristic neck profile is also almost the same, although the SE has a slightly flatter - and therefore more accessible - fingerboard with its 8.5" radius. That fingerboard is made of real rosewood by the way! Of course, the SE Silver Sky comes with an SE Gigbag, so you can use it can safely take to your next gig!
