Suhr's Classic S line brings together the best of two eras. These S-type guitars have the same feel, mojo and sound as old ones from the fifties and sixties. At the same time, John Suhr and his close-knit team have designed the series to be as reliable, clean and stable as possible. This way, even the most demanding guitarist can enjoy those recognizable, classic sounds and feel undisturbed! The Classic S Antique models lean a little further towards the last century with their less hot pickups, nitrocellulose lacquer and firmer neck profile.

"Your New Old Friend", is how John Suhr himself describes his Classic S Antique line. We couldn't have come up with a better slogan, because these guitars really feel and sound from the first minute of play as if you've been playing them daily for years. This starts with the nitrocellulose lacquer and the very tasteful aging, as well as the inviting Vintage Medium C neck profile. This is a neck that feels like it's already molded to your will. Plug in the guitar and you will be embraced by its balanced and clear sounds, made possible by the V63 Singlecoils. These are somewhat more modest in output than the V60 elements that you find in the regular Classic S models. The SSV humbucker can rock a lot, but always remains nicely balanced with the single coils. But as John himself said: the Antique S is also your new friend. Modern upgrades, starting with the unique SSCII noise canceling system. Your single coils are therefore free of that nasty 60-cycle hum. Ideal for recordings or performances, and without batteries! In addition, your guitar stays in tune incredibly well thanks to the Tusq nut and Locking Tuners, even when you give the tremolo a good beating; it has been carefully designed by Gotoh. It should be clear; this Classic S is a very complete mix of old and new!
